Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) ensures the airworthiness of an aircraft, whether it is a fixed-wing airplane or a helicopter. They identify problems and repair and overhaul aircraft structural, mechanical and electrical systems. An AME is personnel who is responsible for the release of an aircraft or a component after maintenance. AME’s ensures that at any time in its operating life, the aircraft complies with the airworthiness requirements in force and is in a condition for safe operation. AME has assigned the role of certifying for the sound state of systems maintained on aircraft such as engines, hydraulics, autopilot, communications, radars, landing gears, etc. AME is the sole arbitrator of safety whilst the aircraft is on the ground. AME signs a Certificate of Release to service in writing when he/she is 100% sure that aircraft is safe for flying.
